Alabaster Lighting, Cut and Finished by Hand
Translucent natural alabaster on solid brass — wall lights, pendants and chandeliers for hotel corridors, guest rooms, lobbies and dining rooms.
Alabaster, or something that only looks like it
A great deal of what is sold online as “alabaster” is resin, frosted glass or a cast composite with a printed vein. From a photograph the three are almost impossible to tell apart — which is exactly why it is worth knowing what to look for in person.
- Hold it against a light Real alabaster is translucent stone. Backlit, you see the veins and the irregular density of the mineral. Resin and frosted glass go flat and evenly bright, with no structure inside.
- It is cold, and it is heavy Stone feels cold to the touch and a sconce of this size weighs several kilograms. A resin copy feels warm and lifts easily. Weight is the fastest test there is.
- No two shades match Veining and warmth vary from piece to piece. That is the material, not a fault. If a room needs a matched set, order the pieces together and we will select them from one batch.
- It is softer than marble Alabaster is closer to gypsum than to stone-hard marble and can chip if it is knocked. We pack the shade separately inside the carton — and it should be handled with that in mind on site.
How these fittings are specified: the stone is the diffuser, so the shade is lit from within and there is no visible bulb and no glare at eye level. Sizes are quoted in millimetres and inches on every product page. Voltage, socket type and the certification route for your market are confirmed against the order, not assumed — tell us the destination at enquiry stage.
Size, output and price range. Across the collection the shades run from 100 mm to 500 mm in diameter or width and 100 mm to 670 mm in height, priced from $89 to $422 per piece depending on size and configuration. Specify 2700K for guest rooms and 3000K for lobbies and corridors, held to CRI Ra ≥ 90 and R9 ≥ 50 at 2 SDCM so fixtures in one space match. Sizes are built to the drawing rather than to a stock figure — send the opening or the ceiling height and we confirm what is achievable before quoting.
Alabaster pendant lights, ceiling lights, sconces and chandeliers
The same stone is cut five ways depending on where the fitting has to work. Below is what each type is for, and what to check before you specify it.
Alabaster pendant lights
Hanging fittings where the light has to sit close to the surface it serves — a bedside, a bar top, a narrow island. Because the stone itself is the diffuser, the glow is even and there is no bulb visible at eye level, which is why an alabaster pendant lamp over a bar or a console reads better than glass, and why the same fitting is chosen again and again for guest room bedsides. The same piece works as a single bedside pendant or in a run of three over an island, on the same slim rod.
Alabaster ceiling lights
Surface-mounted fittings for corridors, entryways and rooms with a standard ceiling height, where a pendant would hang into the circulation zone. They throw light up and out rather than down, so the ceiling reads brighter and the walls pick up a soft wash.

Alabaster wall sconces
The largest group in the collection, because walls are where most of a hotel's lighting actually is: corridors, guest room bedsides, feature walls and lobby columns. A sconce lights the wall it is fixed to, so spacing and mounting height matter more than output.

Alabaster chandeliers
For lobbies and double-height spaces, where a single fitting has to read as the focal point from across the room and from the floor above. Ours are built as a tiered drum: the stone rings carry the light and the brass frame carries the weight.
Alabaster vanity lights and table lamps
Mirror lights and console lamps, where the fitting is seen at close range and judged on how skin and fabric read. Alabaster gives a warm, slightly veined light at face height without the hard downward shadow a metal or glass shade produces.
